    Munitionsschlepper VK3.02

German small tank hunter WW2 1945 Battle of Berlin

n army, particularly one as mobilized as the Wehrmacht, needs a constant supply of ammunition and the Munitionschlepper was their answer to keeping tropps supplied. Whilst never made in the quantities initially envisaged it did prove to be quite an effective machine and could get both bullets and shells to frontline troops, even under fire. It is estimated 28 were produced before there was a design change.

    PZ.Pak38 auf gp.Mun.Schlepper VK3.02

The Panzerselbstfahrlafette 1a 5cm PaK 38 auf gepanzerter Munitionsschlepper VK302 was a German military vehicle that was developed during WWII

In July 1940, Rheinmetall was tasked by the Wehrmacht to develop a new light tank destroyer that could be used by airborne troops. Rheinmetall used the new recently developed Borgward VK302 armored ammunition carrier as its basis, and armed it with the 5cm Pak 38.

It was planned to produced some 200 vehicles, but only two were ever build and these were issued forth for troop trials in July 1942. But by that time the 5 cm PaK 38 was no longer a viable antitank gun and the whole project was abandoned. Detailed information about their participation in the war is not known.
